Happy New Year!. .
Speaker: Dr. Kevin Swift, Chief Economist of the American Chemistry Council (ACC). What trend shifts will have high impact in the 2015 global economy? How is the match between the middle East and Shale Oil & Gas shaping up? What is the new outlook on the manufacturing future of the USA? Join us to hear the insights of a preeminent economist of the business of chemistry.
Speaker: Sam Samdani, Sr. Knowledge Expet at McKinsey & Company. Abstract: A revolution is under way in the oil & gas industry, driven by the boost in unconventional and new conventional oil & gas production, which has not only led to a regional shift in oil and gas production towards North America but also has resulted in the emergence of new players and the buildup of new infrastructure. Of course, chemicals are used in various phases of the well life cycle, especially during the drilling & cementing, stimulation, and production phases. The luncheon presentation will address some of the critical questions: How will demand for shale gas and oilfield chemicals evolve? What are the opportunities to enter or grow in this market?

This amazing machine of 63 meters (208 ft) in wingspan that weighs only 1600 kg (3520 lb) is a marvel of engineering, chemistry, physics, and most importantly, the human passion for perseverance and making the impossible dreams come true.
STEM Education is Key to Peace and Prosperity
Scholars embody CM&E's mission: inform, network, engage the public and advance STEM education
Technological innovation has been by far the primary driver of economic growth. However, the share of science, technology engineering and mathematics (STEM) students has been declining in the USA. Compared to 46% in China, only 5% of USA high school graduates become STEM professionals.
